WARDOGS Driver Progression Guide: How to Level Driver Fast
The Driver track levels up by doing one of the most useful jobs in WARDOGS: getting your faction to the fight. Ferry teammates to the Control Zone, run supplies to the F.O.B, push the respawn vehicle forward, and eventually command tanks and artillery.
You don’t need to be good at gunfights to level Driver. You need to be a safe, reliable driver.
Driver in one line: Fill your seats at HQ, drop everyone in the zone alive, drive back, repeat.
How Driver XP Works
Driver XP comes from ground vehicles. The main sources are:
| Action | Reward | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Drop a teammate in the Control Zone | ~25 XP per player, plus cash | Each passenger pays separately. Ground vehicles pay more cash than helicopters |
| Passenger drop-off streak | +5 XP per player in a row | Builds up to 25 players |
| Passengers survive the drop | Survival bonus | Teammates need to stay alive for a short time after you drop them off |
| Return trip to HQ | ~50 XP + cash | Only pays if you dropped passengers off. Streak adds +25 XP per trip, up to 10 |
| Respawn vehicle | XP per teammate | Players spawning on a respawn vehicle you’ve pushed forward pay you |
| Repairing ground vehicles | XP | Repairs now go to Driver (ground) or Pilot (aircraft) |
| Vehicle weapon kills | XP | Kills with mounted guns and tank cannons |
| Artillery | XP | Artillery kills count towards Driver in Season 2 |
| Supply runs | Big cash and XP | Crates and pallets delivered to the F.O.B, with their own streaks |
These are base values from Season 2. Deliveries into the Control Zone pay more than the base figures.
The Fastest Way to Level Driver
Step 1: Run the Taxi at the Start of the Match
The opening minutes are the best time to farm Driver XP, because everyone at HQ needs a lift.
- Grab a transport with lots of seats: the Kodiak Pickup (Driver 2) or the Ural (Driver 3). Use whatever you have at first.
- Wait for a full load. Every seat is a separate payout.
- Drive to the Control Zone and drop everyone off in cover, close to the zone.
- Drive straight back to HQ for the return trip bonus.
- Repeat. Each run builds your streak.
Step 2: Keep Your Passengers Alive
Your passengers surviving the drop earns you more. So:
- Drop them behind buildings, ridges or treelines, not in open ground.
- Don’t drive into the middle of the Hot Zone. Stop short and let them move in on foot.
- Avoid roads you know are covered by enemy machine guns or launchers.
- Tell them what to expect:
Dropping you behind the farm, zone is 100 metres north.
Step 3: Switch to Supply Runs Mid-Match
Once the front line settles and your faction has a F.O.B, it needs supplies.
- Load crates onto a vehicle with crate space (Ural, Kodiak and Humvee variants).
- Deliver them to the F.O.B nearest the fighting. Consecutive drops build a streak.
- Unlock supply pallets through your Wardog level (Mechanical at 5, Ammo at 9, Fuel at 16) for bigger deliveries.
Step 4: Push the Respawn Vehicle
A respawn vehicle parked safely near the objective lets your team spawn closer to the fight, and you’re rewarded when they do.
- Park it in cover, out of sight of enemy positions.
- Don’t park it so close that the enemy can reach it easily.
Step 5: Repair Everything
Carry a Wrench (and Fuel Can) and repair damaged ground vehicles. In Season 2, repair XP goes straight to your Driver track.
Step 6: Move Into Combat Vehicles
As you level, armed vehicles and tanks let you earn XP from kills too. See the unlocks below.

Tip: Ground vehicles are much cheaper to run than helicopters, so you can afford more trips, and more trips means more XP.
Driving Tips
- Lock your vehicle when you leave it, so nobody drives off with your supplies.
- Refuel before long trips.
- Don’t abandon vehicles. A vehicle left unattended for too long will eventually catch fire and explode.
- Watch for AT mines on roads into the objective, especially near enemy F.O.Bs.
- Use VOIP. Tell people where you’re going and when you’re leaving:
Ural leaving for the zone in 20 seconds, jump in. - Drive smoothly. Crashing into a tree with a full truck is the fastest way to lose everyone’s loadout.
Common Driver Mistakes
- Leaving HQ with empty seats. Wait a few seconds for a full load.
- Driving into the middle of a firefight. Drop passengers short, in cover.
- Not driving back. You miss the return trip bonus and your streak.
- Parking the respawn vehicle in the open.
- Forgetting repairs. A repaired truck is a free extra trip.
Remember: A good driver gets more players into the objective than any single gunner ever could, and levels up while doing it.
Values and unlocks are for Season 2 (Update 0.2.0). WARDOGS is in Early Access, so numbers can change between updates.
