WARDOGS Support Progression Guide: How to Level Support Fast

The Support track covers building, machine guns, shotguns, launchers and mines. The good news: it’s one of the fastest tracks to level, because building pays XP on every single hammer swing.

Support in one line: Find a F.O.B, grab a hammer, hit the yellow X, and keep building.

How Support XP Works

Action Reward Notes
Hammer swing on a structure Small XP per swing Adds up fast during a big build
Hitting the yellow X Several times a normal swing Always aim for the marker
Completing a structure Completion bonus Finish what you start
Machine gun and shotgun kills XP PKM, M249, Evo-3, MP43, M500
Launcher kills and vehicles destroyed XP RPG-7, MAAWS, MGL-40, Verba
Mines XP AT Mines destroying vehicles

Season 2 Changes to XP

  • The Medium Hammer builds a little less per swing, and the yellow X bonus is smaller. The Large Hammer is unchanged.
  • Artillery XP now goes to the Driver track.
  • Destroying buildables with C4 or IEDs now goes to the Assault track.
  • Repairs now go to Driver or Pilot, depending on the vehicle.

The Fastest Way to Level Support

Step 1: Build at a F.O.B

Building is the quickest Support XP in the game. Players have reached the mid-30s in Support over a single weekend of building.

  1. Find your faction’s F.O.B, or help set one up.
  2. Make sure it has Build Supplies.
  3. Build walls, shelters, bunkers and emplacements where they help the objective.

Step 2: Always Hit the Yellow X

While building, a yellow X appears on the structure. Hitting it gives several times the progress, and XP, of a normal swing. Follow it around the structure as it moves.

Step 3: Get the Large Hammer Early

  • Small Hammer – free at the start.
  • Medium Hammer – Support 3.
  • Large Hammer – Support 8. The fastest builder, and unaffected by the Season 2 changes. Buy it as soon as you can.

Step 4: Keep the F.O.B Supplied

No supplies means no building. Work with your drivers and pilots, or do a supply run yourself, so there’s always material to build with.

Step 5: Add Launchers and Machine Guns

  • The RPG-7 (Support 5) lets you earn XP destroying enemy vehicles.
  • The PKM (Support 15) is a top-tier machine gun that earns XP holding the objective.

Step 6: Stay Until the End

Finishing the match pays an end-of-match bonus. Don’t leave early.

Season 2 Changes Worth Knowing

  • The PKM moved much earlier (Support 15) and got cheaper to unlock.
  • The M249 moved later (Support 20).
  • The MAAWS moved earlier (Support 18).
  • C4 moved to the Assault track.
  • The new Evo-3 Ultra arrives at Support 30.

Support Levelling Tips

  • Building beats fighting for pure XP. A quiet match spent building can level you faster than a match spent shooting.
  • Build useful things. Walls and firing positions near the Hot Zone help your team win as well as levelling you.
  • Finish structures. The completion bonus only pays when it’s done.
  • Save rockets for side and rear shots on vehicles. Misses earn nothing.
  • Repair walls that have been damaged instead of starting new ones.

Common Mistakes

  • Ignoring the yellow X. You’ll level much slower.
  • Sticking with the Small Hammer when the Large Hammer is available.
  • Building with no supplies. Check the F.O.B first.
  • Leaving structures half-built.
  • Expecting artillery or repairs to level Support. In Season 2 they don’t.

Remember: A Support player with a Large Hammer and a well-supplied F.O.B levels faster than almost anyone, and gives their faction somewhere to fight from.

Values and unlocks are for Season 2 (Update 0.2.0). WARDOGS is in Early Access, so numbers can change between updates.
